It’s a Big Day for Cultivate Creativity
As a matter of fact, it is the first day. I’m launching Cultivate Creativity and sharing my deepest thoughts and insights with the world.
So what the heck is Cultivate Creativity?
Cultivate Creativity is a creative journal, wherein each week I will share one 15-minute passion-restoring, mind-invigorating activity that will take you approximately 15 minutes to do. Take a break from whatever you do all day long – working at the computer, looking after little ones, watching soap operas, etc. – and get your creativity pants on.
The benefits of mindfulness are becoming more widely-known and appreciated, but you don’t need to be a spiritual master to cultivate creativity. Things that will get your motor running are taking time to doodle, creating a collage project, making stickers… things that don’t require a lot of materials or supplies.
I hear you thinking: “Now I have to schedule time for creativity?! When am I going to fit that in?”
Subscribe to Cultivate Creativity and you can pick and choose your activities, as you have time each week (and its good for you to take breaks).
Happy Birthday Activity
You know how you will be working along one day and glance at the calendar and see that it is your second aunt once removed’s birthday in two days? She always sends you a thoughtful gift for your birthday and you should at least send her a card. Only you don’t have time to go to the store because you have a deadline or a sick kid, and shoot, you wish you had a card on hand?
We’re going to take care of that right now by making a card for the lucky person who’s birthday comes next in your life.
Birthday’s come with Presents
Download this Free Birthday Card Template (.pdf document that is 5.5″ x 8.5″ with center fold line) to create your own card. Happy Birthday!
Print it off on some special paper (or not- your design will make it special).
Note: When you fold it, your design will go below the fold line, whether you do a vertical or horizontal layout.
Sit down and sketch some birthday wishes using big, wavy, fun letters and embellishments. Perhaps make a few sketches first, or just go for it on this card.
Let me know in the comments below- What images come to mind when you think of birthdays? Better yet, what was your favorite thing to do at birthday parties when you were a kid? The more different and unique, the more your second aunt once removed will know it comes from you.
Bonus Points: Use glitter or some other embellishments to decorate your card. Make a few cards- who knows who’s birthday might be next…
No time to make your own birthday card?
I’m also offering a quick alternative (because you are busy!): I created this Birthday Blitz Bundle, complete with 30 birthday elements, including 10 numbered birthday candles, in Adobe Illustrator (for those of you who use that sort of thing). :)
And if you don’t have time for that, here is a printable birthday card, made with the Birthday Blitz artwork.
As with anything new, I’d love to hear feedback – good and bad. This brand spanking new baby blog will need a lot of love and attention to make it grow up right. I appreciate your support and patience as I get started. Just drop me a line in the comments below.
And if you know others who you think would benefit from a creative break, please forward this baby along or use the share buttons below!
