Free Printable Winter Quote
In addition to the beginning of the holiday hustle, there has been a lot of craziness in the world lately. I don’t know about you, but there is a seat on the Struggle Bus with my bum print on it (see my previous posts about anxiety and how this time of year is hard).
In between some epic travel time, it was helpful for me to get away from the bustle and fit in creative breaks while sitting around with family over the holidays. In a state of stupor from over-stuffing myself with food, I drew and read, sneaking in a ‘break’ as my family played games, watched TV or chatted.
I found some inspiration, too – I’m usually not a quote person, but I found this seasonally appropriate message timelessly bottled in The Works of Anne Bradstreet:
“If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.”
Anne goes waaay back in our country’s fine history as the first female writer in England’s North American colonies to be published.
Hang it Up
Before we dive into this month’s recap, I have a gift for you that I created with winter in mind. Print it and hang it up if you want. It helps me remember that shadow and light go together and we cant have one without the other.
Next Week
Who ever heard of ‘Grandma Fluffs’? I don’t know about your crazy family, but mine’s got ’em. I will be digging out this creative break from the deep dark depths of my family’s traditional repertoire.
Why would you use your precious time to make something like this next week? Because taking time to do something away from your daily routine helps you gain perspective, generate new ideas and come back to your work refreshed and ready for more, just like Jacob Morgan in his wind-swept video.
Plus, Grandma Fluffs are decorative, useful, and easy to whip up.
Here are the supplies I will be using if you want to join me:
Scissors,
A big needle and
Matching thick thread (or whatever you have lying around)
