The purpose of this interpretive sign is to engage trail visitors along the North Fork of the Gunnison River next to the Paonia K-8 School.

Educators wanted to highlight the continuation of the trail from the Paonia River Park as well as describe remnants of oxbow meanders in the river, the gabion baskets that were used to prevent erosion and potential area closures in winter for wildlife.
