Dea Million is a graphic artist (among many other impressive talents), but when she needed a vintage book cover design she felt too close to the book to do it herself. She wanted a font that would mimic the flowery nature of the hemp plant, without the ‘pot leaf’ symbol. Her motto is ‘Hemp is not Pot’, so it was important for her to have a look that deviated from the usual recreational marijuana symbols.

I used Photoshop to extrude the text, providing a three-dimensional aspect, as well as incorporated the pattern from the ‘Flower of Life’ on to the surface of the word ‘Hemp’. This image was then imported into Illustrator and adorned with plant flourishes.
